Research Interests


  • Statistical methods for the spatio-temporal modelling of infectious disease spread, in particular:
    • Multivariate time series models for infectious disease counts and proportions
    • Regression approaches for spatio-temporal point processes
    • Linking social contact data with infectious disease spread
  • Statistical software development in R

Methodological research:

  • IZKF-J75: Spatio-temporal modelling and forecasting of infectious disease spread based on surveillance data

Statistical consulting in biomedical research:

  • KuS: combined boulder and psychotherapy against depression - a randomized three-armed interventional study (see study homepage and previous pilot study)
  • MSOT-PREDICD: Monocentric, prospective interventional study to assess the degree of disease activity with a Multispectral Optoacoustic Tomography (MSOT) handheld scanner in patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
  • DeTaMAKS: Randomised controlled trial to evaluate a six months long multimodal non-pharmacological therapy (MAKS therapy) for persons with cognitive decline in day-care institutions in Germany
